Fashion report by Dejan Kovačević: Milano Fashion Week

Predstavljamo vam kolumnu dragog prijatelja whattafashion.com i novog člana našeg tima, mladog, talentiranog srpskog dizajnera Dejana Kovačevića, čiji drugi tekst, fashion report iz Milana donosimo u originalu.

Buongiorno a tutti

Do sledeće kolumne…Arrivederci

Milan fashion week

Buongiorno a tutti
I am very happy that my second column in a row is a personal experience from Milan, this time with one of the most important events that take place on a global level-yes, it’s Milan Fashion Week.

This was the third time that I visited Milan for the Fashion Week, I can’t say that I wasn’t excited as it was the first. My favorite fashion week in fact is in Milan, because I was constantly on the edge of the avant-garde and classic, so I find it most useful for creating new trends.

This year we had a special atmosphere because it was snowing and the city got the whole new dimension of beauty. It’s amazing how this event changed personal description of this metropolis.

Although citizens of Milan are generally considered extremely stylized, in this event it is normal to dig out of the closet all the most expensive and the most wonderful things to prove in the best possible way. Therefore if you are part of fashion week-a, practically you have an impression to belong to the new tribe of “fashionable nomads” which in every hour changes the location.

Basically It looks like that, and you just can’t get lost, because on every street corner there are 2 or 3 supermodels smoking, or across the street you have Anna dello Russo running to make her outfit change, you just follow them, and there you are, on your next fashion location. Apart from a couple of shows that I’ve went to, because I went to fashion week on business, I visited Milano White Fashion Fair which I attended several times before, and last year I exhibited under the brand “Settecento”. Milano White this year was extremely well organized.

Since the event was widened by 20% compared to last year, I could see a progress in the visual and also in terms of content. My favorite pavilion is Basement, which is of course has an underground chick content. Ambience looks as an omage to Martin Margiela and while you are walking through hallways from cement crudely colored in white in the background goes silent ambiental music. Besides White this year was held the first “Super” fashion fair which is located on the old Milan fairgrounds. As part of this event, college students’ Polimoda “from Florence exhibited their works. Super is perhaps somewhat more comfortable as a kind of fair because they are organized circulatory unlike White who takes a showroom concept. Sunday, like every Sunday in Milan is reserved for the famous and incomparable Plastic. For those who wish to see the unseen I strongly recommend them to visit it. Since I am a big fan of eccentricity, for a reason this place is my favorite place to go out in Milan.

All “fashion kids” were present including myself because it was nearly an end of fashion week . I visited it with my wonderful and fabulous friend, model Iva and we really had a good time, so warm recommendations for Plastic. If you are not in the mood for a “crazy night out” I recommend you a cafe “Excelsior”, which is located behind the Duomo inside the “Excelsior” hotel. It has an extremely friendly environment, very beautiful interior design, and people from the world of fashion are almost always present at the aperitivo time.
In the next column, I will present you my favorites from the shows, so I announce an exciting column. I hope you will find my words useful, if for nothing else, then just for fun.
Until the next column … Arrivederci
