Modni dizajneri

Middle Eastern designers

Aramco World Magazine is one of the longest running English language publications dedicated to the Middle East and its Diaspora. Circulated amongst universities and embassies alike, the publication has long provided a much needed literary bridge between the Middle East and the West. Each issue, provides a diverse and faceted perspective on the region and its links to a larger world.

Over the last decade, a new generation of designers has emerged to reshape the Middle East’s fashion scene and despite a reputation for producing only extravagant ball gowns, a handful of emerging Arab talents are exploring an edgier and more modern approach to design.

“It’s not only about how good one is at pattern making or sketching, but also how intellectually engaged they are in the process of creation,” observes Beirut designer Milia Maroun, founder of Milia M.

We found an interesting text about fashion coming from Middle East, at http://www.saudiaramcoworld.com
and wanted to share it with you. The author of it is an architect, artist, curator and editor Alex Aubry, particularly interested in design and culture produced by a new generation in the Middle East and its diaspora.

His articles have appeared in Paris-based Unfair magazine, Brownbook magazine and the London arts publication Muraqqa. He lives in Chicago.
