Christian Siriano‘s Pre-Fall 2018 womenswear collection is inspired by 1970’s photographs of designer’s mother in vintage denim, leather jackets and silk slip dresses.
It is a collection with vintage vibe but also modern and elegant. The color palette inspired by the retro glam look of Bianca and Mick Jagger is in slate grey, cobalt blue, black, and white. Siriano skipped the leisure suits and bell-bottoms and interpreted the idea of ’70s glamour his own way.
In Siriano fashion, denim is refined and more beautiful than standard five-pocket jeans. A standout is a cropped denim moto style with oversize collar, trimmed with contrast stitching and an elongated belt. Wide-leg leather pants toed the line between casual and cocktail. Elements of Bianca and Mick Jagger style were seen in striped suiting, softly tailored blazers with silk ties, and sequined evening numbers.
Designer successfully developed an idea of modern and chic retro glam this way and admitted he’s focused on putting on a spectacle for his 10-year anniversary in February.
